Online Earning Websites in Sri Lanka

Verified platforms Sri Lankans can actually sign up for and receive money from in 2026, plus the ones that block Sri Lankan users so you know before spending time on them.

Reviewed: · How we verify

"Which websites can Sri Lankans actually earn on?" is one of the highest-volume searches in this category, and most of the answers on the internet are out of date or wrong for Sri Lanka specifically. This page fixes that. Every platform below is verified against the operator's own current eligibility, payout, and fee documentation as of the "Reviewed" date at the top. Where a platform is not available for Sri Lankan users — or has a specific gotcha like a required workaround — we say so.

What "verified" means here. Each entry lists the platform's Sri Lanka signup status, its payout method that reaches an LKR bank account, its main fee to the earner, and either a link to the platform's own eligibility page or to our full method page where the primary-source citations live. Fees marked "variable" or "route-dependent" are the platform's real answer — a fixed percentage would be misleading. Verification cadence is documented on the methodology page.

Freelance marketplaces

Service-based platforms where you sell your time and skill. All accept Sri Lankan freelancers directly and pay to Sri Lankan bank accounts via Payoneer or direct transfer.

PlatformSri Lanka signupPayoutMain fee to earnerDetails
Upwork Yes Payoneer or direct bank transfer Variable 0–15% per contract (since 1 May 2025) — effective average ~11–13.5%. Replaces the earlier flat 10% and the pre-2023 tiered "20% / 10% / 5%" model. Best for long-term freelance contracts. See data-entry, freelance writing, graphic design, web development, bookkeeping.
Fiverr Yes Payoneer Flat 20% seller commission across all seller levels (New, Level 1, Level 2, Top Rated, Pro). Buyers pay an extra 5.5% service fee + $2.50 small-order fee (<$50). Best for gig-shaped deliverables. Fastest first-order path for many beginners.
Freelancer.com Yes PayPal, Skrill, wire transfer 10% or $5 per project (whichever higher) on fixed-price + hourly milestones. Membership tiers optional. Higher noise than Upwork, but useful for smaller projects.

Payment rails (not earning sites, but you need at least one)

Every earning platform above pays out through one or more of these. Set the rail up first; a chosen platform whose payout doesn't work from Sri Lanka is worth weeks of wasted production. See the payment methods guide for the full per-provider comparison.

ProviderSri Lanka statusBest for
PayoneerYes — direct signupUpwork, Fiverr, Amazon (Associates / KDP), most freelance platforms.

Explicitly NOT eligible for Sri Lanka

These platforms are commonly recommended in generic international guides but are either unavailable for Sri Lankan users, closing, or require a workaround that most beginner guides don't mention. Save yourself the signup attempt.

PlatformWhy it doesn't work for Sri LankaWorkaround (if any)
Etsy Payments (direct seller signup) Sri Lanka is not on Etsy Payments' eligible-country list, and Sri Lanka is not on Etsy's Payoneer-eligible list either (which is limited to a specific set of countries: AR, BR, EG, GE, KZ, PK, RS, KR, TH, UA, AE). US LLC via Stripe Atlas, or a personal bank account in an eligible country.
Amazon Merch on Demand Seller marketplaces are US, UK, DE, FR, IT, ES, JP. Sri Lanka is not eligible. No direct workaround; use Redbubble / TeePublic / Printful+Shopify instead.
Wise Business (for SL-registered companies) Not fully available for Sri Lanka-registered entities. Wise Personal works with limitations. Requires an eligible-country entity registration.
Airwallex Business Accounts only open to companies registered in ~50 supported countries; Sri Lanka is not on that list. Register the company in a supported country first.
Stripe (direct signup) Not available for Sri Lankan merchants. US LLC via Stripe Atlas / FirstBase / Doola (~USD 300–800 setup + ongoing US tax obligations).
TikTok Creator Rewards Program (formerly Creator Fund, then Creativity Program) Available only in US, UK, FR, DE, ES, IT, BR, JP, KR as of early 2026. Sri Lanka not on the list. No workaround; SL TikTok creators earn from brand deals, not the platform's monetisation programme.
Lazada Affiliate Program Lazada does not operate in Sri Lanka — Alibaba's Sri Lanka platform is Daraz. Use Daraz Affiliate for Sri Lankan audiences.
Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) Permanently closing 30 September 2026, along with SageMaker Ground Truth and Amazon Augmented AI. Migrate to Prolific / Scale AI / Mercor (verify SL eligibility first) or Clickworker.
Ezoic (new-publisher signup) New-publisher threshold raised to 250,000 monthly users effective 19 February 2026. Sites already using Ezoic before that date are grandfathered. Ezoic Incubator for smaller sites showing growth; otherwise start on AdSense.

How to use this list

  1. Pick your persona first, not your platform. Use the Best Starting Options by Persona section on the homepage to narrow to 4-6 methods that fit your situation.
  2. Set up the payment rail before you sign up for the earning platform. A chosen platform whose payout doesn't work from Sri Lanka wastes weeks.
  3. Cross-check the platform's own current eligibility page. The "verified" date on this hub is the last time we checked. Platforms change eligibility silently; primary sources are the ground truth.
  4. Confirm scam-safety. Read Scam prevention — the 12 patterns targeting Sri Lankan online earners — before paying anyone anything upfront.
  5. Confirm the tax picture. Online income earned via any of these platforms is taxable in Sri Lanka. See Tax obligations for online earners in Sri Lanka.
